It is interesting to see the variety of cupolas and building styles along this beautiful main road leading to Plaza de Mayo (Mayo Square). There you can see the Pirámide de Mayo (May Pyramid), which commemorates the first Argentine government’s independence. Other important buildings are the Cabildo (Town Hall from colonial times), the Cathedral, and the Casa Rosada (Government House), seat of the President of the Argentine Republic. Lying by the river, the renovated Puerto Madero where the ancient docks have given place to newly refurbished first class restaurants and hotels. FROM AVENIDA DE MAYO TO SAN MARTIN SQUARE. Starting from Corrientes Avenue, Buenos Aires’ nightlife centre, you can see the Obelisk, symbol of the city. Further beyond, you will find Florida Street with its shops. Some of the most representative buildings of Buenos Aires are located in front of San Martín Square. LA BOCA NEIGHBOURHOOD. Its streets and brightly colored houses are unmistakable. Caminito Street served as inspiration for the tango, with its bohemian street artists demeanor. RECOLETA. An elegant and exclusive neighborhood with tree lined streets, cafés and restaurants, antique shops, a cultural centre, and Recoleta Cemetery considered a history and sculpture museum. PALERMO. It is one of the largest and most beautiful green areas in the city, and the traditional site chosen by diplomatic representations in Buenos Aires. DELTA OF PARANÁ RIVER: Departing from Tigre, there are sailing tours along the Paraná river, to discover the innumerable islands of this Delta, with its lush vegetation and colourful week-end residences and cottages as well as rowing and yacht clubs and marinas.
