DAY 07: Estancia La Maipu (Lago San Martín)

At the Estancia, which has been run by the Leyenda family for half a century, enjoy walks through woods of local species (Nothofagus subantartica), share in the ranch work, go horseback riding or visit its own museum of Patagonia's first settlers. Trekking to Vega de la Medialuna, Laguna Talca and Condorera. Natural viewpoints of San Martin Lake, the Peninsula Avellaneda and the ranch. Lodge and dinner at Estancia La Maipu. Distance: 30 Km. (gravel road)

DAY 08: Estancia La Maipu – EL CALAFATE ( Perito Moreno Glacier)

Drive to El Calafate, on the coast of Lago Argentino. From the road we observe the great Viedma Lake and its Glacier that comes from the continental snow fields. In the afternoon visit to the famous Perito Moreno Glacier, an important river of ice, 3 km. wide by 50 m high. Because it is the only glacier in the world which is permanently advancing, it has been declared a world heritage by UNESCO. Some people consider it to be the eight wonder of the world. The sunset is the highlight of this day.
